Meet Luciano
Luciano Pechota is a professional midfielder currently competing within the Minnesota United FC organization. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, and a graduate of The Ohio State University, he competed for four seasons at the NCAA Division I level in the Big Ten Conference. During his collegiate career, he helped lead the program to a Big Ten Regular Season Championship and a Big Ten Tournament Championship, along with two NCAA Tournament appearances. His performances earned recognition including Big Ten All-Freshman Team honors, Second Team All-Big Ten selection, NCAA Tournament Team recognition, Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, and preseason watchlist honors for both the MAC Hermann Trophy and United Soccer Coaches.
Pechota operates primarily as a central midfielder and is capable of performing effectively as a central attacking midfielder, box-to-box midfielder, or defensive midfielder. His versatility allows him to contribute across all phases of play — facilitating build-up, progressing possession through midfield channels, creating opportunities in advanced areas, and providing defensive balance and tactical structure in deeper roles. He is recognized for his game intelligence, vision, tactical awareness, and consistent work rate within a team framework.
Prior to his collegiate career, Pechota competed at Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland, where he was part of three state and national championship teams and earned National High School Player of the Year honors, Ohio "Mr. Soccer," Ohio Gatorade Player of the Year recognition, and All-American distinction.
Throughout his career, Pechota has observed a consistent gap in how the game is taught at the youth level — players are trained to execute, but rarely taught to think. The focus is on what to do, not why it works. The positioning, the movement, the decision in a split second — these aren't accidents at the highest level. They are the product of a deep understanding of the game that most young players are never given access to. Luciano built Pechota Performance to change that — bringing the tactical reasoning, game intelligence, and professional standards from his own development directly to the next generation of serious players who are ready to not just play the game, but truly understand it.
